Tangle / Untangle

These prints were born of a desire to create an impression using crochet in a repetitive and timely method. They are made with copper wire crochet pieces to make a mark using a Bjorn letterpress. The results vary between “positives” and “negatives” of the crocheted wire, as well as a combination of the two methods. When paired with the installation Potentially Infectious Material they contribute to the medical aesthetic of the piece, as some become reminiscent of x-ray imagery. The unraveling quality of the crochet is a reference to my own struggles relating to physical and mental health during the production of this work. The repetition of prints around the plastic installation is indicative of the repetitious processes of creation used not only in these pieces, but in all of my work.
